My name is Christopher Flint Fears and I am principal of Middle and High School. I bring almost 11 years of experience from the Arizona State School for the Deaf, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Arkansas School for the Deaf as teacher. Since 2009 as principal, I worked hard to maintain the rich tradition that has been the heart of Arkansas School for the Deaf Middle and High School. I am proud of our successes and looking forward to another exciting and productive school year.
Our focus this year is to incorporate more academic rigor in our instructional program. We hope to increase our expectations for all students. We believe all students can learn. When students learn in a safe and nurturing environment, students will strive to attain exceptionally high levels of academic achievement. We are very lucky to educate students from many different cultures, backgrounds and varying academic levels. We will strive to give each student the opportunity to meet with success in all of his/her endeavors at school. We strive to implement best practices, integrating social and academic learning in every aspect of the school day. By teaching and reinforcing expectations, routines and our school rules, of which there are three, we believe students can best focus on their most important job of learning.
Parents play a vital role in the school community, and I look forward to working with you as you and your student are a part of this school. I have an open-door policy with parents, so please stop by to see me when you are in the building or if you see me at any of the games or school functions. We strongly believe that children are most successful when parents are involved in their child’s/children’s education. The commitment they show to their education is evident every time we walk into a classroom. These students are living the pillars for success. We hope that through the combined efforts of home and school, your child will thirst for knowledge, skills and learning. We welcome your support and engagement and anticipate building upon your success.
I will be working with all of our staff to ensure that we build on the success of the Arkansas School for the Deaf Middle and High School. Our high expectations extend to us as professionals. We are committed to improvement and making our Middle and High School program even more successful than it is currently.
